γυμνάσιον | Gymnasion

I'm Aristocles (and remaining slightly anonymous). I’m trying to form an informal group of people passionate about developing themselves and helping eachother out. I don't have any goals for how far this would reach, but I want at least one gathering, one "social."

About what? Subjects at school, extracurricular learning about the world, collaboration with other passionate people, philosophical debate, networking, the list goes on.

👉 Think of it like an Ancient Greek Gymnasium, a place where people discuss, educate, learn, and work on themselves. (although not all-male, not naked, etc.)

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, great! I'll direct you to join our group chat below. If not, pass it on! If you know of anybody who would be interested, send them this link. The more (who are serious about it) the merrier.

Joining the group chat

I have the group chat on Discord because it of its widespread popularity and community features. Unfortunately, it is not private, secure, nor anonymous.

Join with this link.

It's fine if you don't join, but just know someone who can keep you in the loop.

To get things going, I suggest sending a list of things you are interested in. Don't be afraid to ramble on, we above all seek truth, and the admins will take action against misconduct.

Where?

I am envisioning two sides of the Gymnasion: one online and one in person. If the thing grows enough (which is very well shouldn't) groups of people remote from eachother could meet on occasion.

I'm in College Station, Texas. I'm inviting lots of people who could be interested, and I recommend you to do so as well. Especially if you are near me.

If not, why not invite a bunch of your friends and meet wherever you are? We can share our expertise online, but hone it in the flesh.

Who is invited?

I'm sending this link to people I think would like something like this, either to teach or to learn.

If you're in, invite people you know. Ultimately, the group chat on Session can only be managed by one person. If one Gymnasion is too big, make a new one for just your friends. As much as it is beneficial to form a network of relative experts and strangers who could change your life for the better, too much noise can be detrimental.

How much does it cost?

Nothing.

I mean, if we want to set it up we might want to buy some food for people coming to discuss, but to join a meeting, and definitely to join the group chat, this thing is 100% free.
